Events
Each year Gowanda is host to many community events such as:
Pioneer Days
In May of each year, the Gowanda Chamber of Commerce holds it's annual Pioneer Days. For one weekend, a portion of Main Street is closed and crowded with pedestrians taking in the shopping, carnival rides, craft and food vendors and live music. A parade is held and the local fire company holds a "refreshment" tent.
Harley Happening
June is the month for the annual Harley Happening. Once again a part of Main Street is closed to vehicle traffic so hundreds of individuals from all over can come to display their Harley Davidson motorcycles and take part in the "Harley" parade on Friday evening. There are vendors, live music and great food.
Classic Car Show
Each July on a Saturday afternoon, the Gowanda Police Department sponsors a Classic Car Show and this has become a big hit. Classic cars of every make line W Main Street for people to see. There is also food vendors and live music. Cars are judged and prizes are awarded.
Harvest Heritage Festival
In September Gowanda holds it Harvest Heritage Festival. This event has food and craft vendors on the street, live music and another car show. A scarecrow contest is held with many creative scarecrows lining the busy streets that are later judged for prizes. A garden tour is also held at this time.
Christmas Tree Lighting
In December a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is held in Chang Hu Park which is sponsored by the Gowanda Chamber of Commerce. There are events sponsored by the Gowanda Historical Society and the Gowanda Free Library. The Immanuel Lutheran Church creates the Living Nativity in Chang Hu Park as well.
